How it works:
Entecavir blocks an enzyme required by HBV to replicate its DNA. This reduces the amount of virus in the body and helps limit ongoing liver damage. It controls HBV but does not cure Hepatitis B.
Important: Xvir is generally taken on an empty stomach, as directed by the doctor. Treatment should not be stopped suddenly because Hepatitis B can flare up after discontinuation. Dose adjustment may be required in people with kidney problems.
